TASTE OF HEALTH
EarthSave’s Healthy Food Festival

October 3-4, 1998
Seattle Center

The saying "You are what you eat" is perhaps truer today than ever. As more people look for ways to improve their health, their life, and their awareness, here’s an event to help them find some answers. The third annual Taste of Health offers solutions for those who want to savor their health and their food at the same time.

Taste of Health is a two-day festival that celebrates healthy food. It is related to a growing consumer trend, with more people concerned about trimming their waistlines, reducing their chances for cancer and heart disease, and following the new dietary guidelines for five daily servings of fruits and vegetables.

Taste of Health offers people a chance to sample delicious delights from more than ten local restaurants featuring healthy food and meatless dishes. In addition, Taste of Health offers 17 free cooking classes, seminars on preparing healthy food, a "Try It and Buy It Market", and the largest nutrition bookstore in the northwest. Seminar speakers include Susan Powter, James McDougall, and Entertainment and learning activities for children will also be featured.

Taste of Health occurs in three North American cities, including Louisville, KY, Vancouver, BC, and Seattle, where it is expected to draw 10,000 attendees this year. Local sponsors include: Fred Meyer, PCC, KPLU, Odwalla, Vitasoy USA, and the Seattle Weekly.

EarthSave Seattle is an all-volunteer local chapter of EarthSave International, an organization which promotes people in moving toward a diet centered on vegetables, grains, and fruits. The Seattle chapter provides education and support at the community level for people seeking a change to a healthier diet. Local programs include monthly potlucks with educational speakers, school presentations, and other community outreach activities. The local chapter has satellite groups throughout the greater Puget Sound region.
